Women Smokejumpers
We follow fire-fighter Lori Messenger and her workmates as they leap from airplanes over remote mountain ranges to fight the forest fires that mark so much of the US summer. The women smokejumpers all share a background of athleticism or hard physical exercise and gradually they have won acceptance from their male colleagues. A forest fire is not a forgiving environment and these women have demonstrated time and time again that they can be depended upon in life and death situations.
