GRIN AND BEAR IT
In northeast Pennsylvania, people have unusual neighbors. Black bears there are keeping their place in an increasingly crowded world. The bears have lived there for thousands of years, and over the past few decades, they have been joined by more than 6,000 people. The very symbol of wilderness, black bears are making a home with humans. In the Pocono Mountains, biologist Dr. Gary Alt is conducting a long-term research project on bears. He hopes to help keep the bears thriving in a world that once seemed to have little room for them.
