Africa Series : Land of Sun - Africa : Mountains of Faith
More than forty million years ago, colossal upsurges of lava spilled out to form the cragged mountains and highlands of the Horn of Africa. The weathering power of wind and water then fashioned this distinctive landscape. Ethiopia's mountains are a refuge for rare Gelada baboons, Lammergeier vultures and the endangered Ethiopian wolf. Those same mountains have also been a haven for the world's major religions. Judaism, Islam and Christianity have all found a home here at one time or another. For as long as anyone can remember, Ethiopians have been a deeply spiritual people.
