NGS Adventure - Master of the Abyss
Between 1930 and 1934, Beebe undertook a series of ever more daring dives, pushing the envelope of what was technologically possible. In a remarkable oversized steel ball designed by Otis Barton, a young, eccentric New England engineer, the two men probed deeper and deeper into the ocean's darkest secrets. The final dive, sponsored by National Geographic Society, reached an incredible depth of 3,028 feet. No submarine and no diver broke that record for fifteen years.
