Inside the Pentagon
INSIDE THE PENTAGON takes you to places you never expected to go. National Geographic will interweave the sweep of its history, with the arc of how this mighty institution is coming to grips with the new challenges it faces in this historic time after the events of September 11th, 2002. The Pentagon's five concentric rings are the military centers of gravity for the United States, but the building is a star of a solar system of command centers, battlefields, formidable weaponry, and a culture that permeates more of America and the world than many realize. Along its endless echoing corridors, some 23,000 people are absorbed in hundreds of different tasks. But to go INSIDE THE PENTAGON is not to enter its doors and wind around its hallways, peering into offices and computer banks. It is to go into the heart and mind of the American military, understand the challenges the Armed Forces face, and realize the enormous reach it has around the globe.
