Nutria, semi-aquatic South American rodent imports, have invaded Louisiana wetlands. Once prized for their fur, zoologists examine how much environmental damage the nutria appetite creates. Voracious vegetarians, nutria feeding activity has ruined surface vegetation of many wetland acres. Nutria breed like rabbits. This invasive species is only controlled by hunting, trapping, and natural disasters.
