The concept is simple. This is a real-life woodpecker soap, filmed in intimate and revealing detail. Each bird in the group has a distinct character, with its own agenda for survival and immortality. And yet they must all co-operate to survive. The stresses and strains are immense and they show! And then there is Dr. Walter Koenig. He is just as fascinating as his woodpeckers. Like them, he has to balance social conformity with his own selfish instincts. He doesn't resort to infanticide, but he appreciates why the woodpeckers do. So will we.
