Ultimate Crocodile
Few animals on earth are as notorious as the Nile crocodiles. Crocodiles hail from the great age of reptiles and their ancestors hunted alongside the famous Jurassic dinosaurs. Despite the numerous planetary changes since then and the best efforts of man, they have survived and are one of the worlds most perfect predators /successful killers. As you would expect of any great survivor, crocodiles have diverse and complex lives. They are not just lethal hunters, but devoted parents, good communicators, and social scavengers that can use teamwork to overcome problems.
Growing close to twenty feet in length and weighing close to a ton, the Nile crocodile is capable of breathtaking power and speed. Its reputation as a killer rivals even sharks, and there are plenty of horrifying stories told by those who live alongside these crocodiles. Ancient Egyptians worshipped and even mummified these animals and perhaps this is no surprise as there is much to admire in an animal, mistakenly called primitive by us, whose triumph over the test of time measures far above what our own human design has yet to achieve. Most of the year crocodiles get by on fish and an occasional antelope, but once a year they can get lucky. To avoid starvation herds of wildebeest and zebra migrate 100's of kilometers, following the rains to fresh grass, even if this means crossing the crocodile-infested Mara River. This can provide a Nile crocodile with quite an annual feast. The crocodiles gorge themselves and the great cycle of migration, predation and breeding continues.
