The wood industry involves logging and the manufacturing of products made with wood. Every year 3.3 billion cubic meters of wood are taken from forests. Some is used as unprocessed logs, notably for construction. A third of the wood is used for the timber industry and for wood-based panels. The rest of the wood is used for paper and for fuel wood.
