THE ONE DEGREE FACTOR Strange Days on Planet Earth
In 2001, an international team of scientists concluded that by burning carbon fuels, we have raised Earth's temperature one-degree in the last century. Researchers believe that this climate change is connected to disparate phenomena. Dust clouds are building over the Atlantic; entire populations of animals are dropping; rare illnesses are becoming more common. Our world is getting warmer, but how much warmer will depend in part on us. While the things we can do now dont always seem so significant, if enough people start reducing their energy consumption, it will make a real difference.
